Marrickville
Place Branding 2025
Made in response to a university brief to brand a place special to us. This brand, like Marrickville itself, aims to unify diverse voices, perspectives, and stories under one identity. The visual language is built around the stitch- a symbol deeply tied to: cultural craft, the suburb’s textile manufacturing history, and the wetlands that once connected this land before its theft from the traditional owners.
But the stitch is more than that. It symbolises lives, histories, and stories woven together with a common thread. This brand belongs to the people. It has a bold, graphic visual language yet hides in plain sight. Through abstracted letterforms and intricate patterns, the identity is only visible only to those who know to look.
